For those searching for Biblical answers to some of life’s tough questions we have assembled responses to those questions we hear most frequently; but to receive the promises God has given us in the Bible you must first have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior.

How can I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior?

First, you must accept that you are a sinner (someone who has disobeyed the commandments God has set forth in the Bible) and fall short of the perfect standard God has set for us.  The Bible tells us:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”  Romans 3:10

Second, as a sinner you must accept that you owe a penalty for your sin.  The Bible tells us:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal live through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Romans 6:23

Third, you must accept that Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty for our sin when he willingly allowed himself to be crucified on the cross. The Bible tells us:

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8

Jesus Christ was not a sinner and the Bible teaches that God took all of our sin and placed it on Christ.  While Christ was bearing all of our sins in His own body, God punished Him in our place to pay the debt we owe.  This is not something God promised to do.  It is something God has already done.  We see this when the Bible says:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” II Corinthians 5:21

Fourth, you must accept by faith what Jesus Christ did for you.  The Bible says:

“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”  John 3:36

In this verse, Jesus divides the world into two groups: those who are believing and those who are not believing on the son.  Those who believe have everlasting life, and those who believe not shall not see life.

The word “believe” means to trust, to depend on, to rely on.  To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ means that you accept the fact that you are a sinner, that as a sinner you owe a penalty for your sin, and that Jesus Christ willingly made himself a sacrifice and died on the cross to pay the debt you owe.  It also means that you believe the Jesus Christ did not stay dead, but rose again three days after he was crucified, conquering death for us as he promised.  Now you must take your belief one step further.  It means that you will completely trust Christ to get to Heaven – that you will put the matter of your salvation in His hands and depend on him for everlasting life.

Now the moment you do this, God promises you are not condemned but have everlasting life and that you shall never perish.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” John 5:24

If you will trust Jesus Christ as you Saviour, pray this simple prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I deserve to pay my own sin debt, but I do believe that you died for me to pay the debt I owe.  Today, the best I know how, I trust You as my Saviour.  I will depend on You from this moment on for my salvation.  Please help me to live for You.  Amen.

What to do when troubles come into your life.

One of the greatest lies Satan would have us believe is that we are all alone in our troubles; that no one else has ever been through or could understand our grief and fears.  This is not true and the exact opposite of what God tells us in the Bible.

The truth is that God loves us unconditionally, and if we have accepted His Son, Jesus Christ, as our Savior we will never walk through this life alone.  Consider the following verses:

"...For He (God) Himself has said " I will never leave you nor forsake you."  So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.  What can man do to me?"

Hebrews 13:5,6

"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38,39

So knowing that God loves us and will always be there for us, what does He want us to do during our difficult times?  He wants us to speak to Him through prayer, to trust that He knows what is best, and to release our control on the situation so He can take over.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:6,7

"Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you."

I Peter 5:7

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."

Proverbs 3:5,6
